Dear Minim Family,
I hope you have been well!
Minim Summer Camps have come to an end, and we had such a fantastic time with the children. We want to thank the schools who commissioned us to bring enriching and engaging summer camps to their students.
By bringing the Minim curriculum into the classroom, children are not only introduced to the subjects, but we go deeper to incorporate teamwork, public speaking, and storytelling into every program. We are grateful for the support that schools and organizations have placed in us, and for the chance to bring the Minim curriculum into so many of their spaces.
Ukulele and Dance Summer Camps

Our Ukulele Summer Camps this year focused on the themes of "Ohana" and "Mahalo." Ohana means "family" in Hawaiian, and Mahalo means "thank you." Through these themes, the children explored what it means to be a family, and what they are grateful for in their everyday lives.
We learned ukulele songs according to the themes, like:
- "I Love You" — love for family, giving thanks to family
- "Count on Me" — the spirit of knowing that your friends and family have got your back
- "It's a Small World" — we are all connected
Where time allowed, we did a dance with some of the children, inspired by Kālā'au sticks and hula.
Well done, campers!

Math Explorers Summer Camp

On math camps, we put on our thinking caps together to explore the shapes around us in math. Through shapes, children were introduced to fundamental mathematical concepts, day by day:
- Day 1: Number awareness — What shapes are around you? How many sides does a shape have?
- Day 2: Addition — How many sides add up to a shape? Make as many shapes as you can using sticks and connectors.
- Day 3: Multiplication — Using these shapes, form 3D objects with the same shapes.
- Day 4: Division — You have 30 sticks. How many triangles can you make? How many squares? How many stars?
- Day 5: Challenge — You have 30 sticks. Split into teams, brainstorm how to build the tallest tower, then present your ideas. You have 20 minutes to build it!
Math is all around us, and weaving in an intentional storytelling element makes learning fun and engaging! We look forward to bringing the love of math to the children this coming school year through our Minim Math Club and World of Numbers curriculum.

Junior Scientist Summer Camp

Learning how to create your own hypothesis, run an experiment, and reach a conclusion as a junior scientist is possible at Minim! This summer, the children were introduced to the wonders of water and salt, exploring properties that create "magical" scenarios. Science is everywhere, and we loved seeing the children's amazement that these everyday objects could do such interesting things, if we are willing to inspect them from a different angle.
Here are some experiments the children conducted:
- Soluble and insoluble solutions — finding out which materials dissolve in water and which do not.
- Buoyancy — salt mixed into water increases its density, which changes buoyancy. The children tested how much salt is needed to make an object float.
- Surface tension — salt water increases surface tension, letting more drops hold onto a coin's surface. The children tested how many drops of salt water, plain water, and soapy water a coin could hold.
The children were engaged and excited every class, and it was wonderful to see how their teamwork improved over the experience.
Minim's Junior Scientist program is coming soon to schools! If you would like this program at your child's school, let us know and we will make it happen!
