Nishimachi International School Piano Academy

Students can look forward to building their love and skill for piano with the Minim method, which has helped hundreds of children pick up the instrument since 2018. Minim Piano classes are highly focused sessions that include the essential components of music learning. During each session, we aim to cover the following components:

Revision of songs that we previously learnt

Introduce a music technique
Techniques such as reading notation, understanding parts of a piano, scales, arpeggios, and note drills for the more advanced students are essential knowledge to help students understand how music is written. Music may seem complicated, but it is essentially a formula and concoction of music techniques. Learning music techniques through the weeks will help students understand this.

Song of the day
We will work on the song that is chosen together with the teacher and student. This can be a classical piece, a contemporary piece, or something that the student is working on.

Music Writing
Where time allows, we will incorporate music writing into the session, which adds to students' understanding of music. This will be in accordance with the ABRSM Theory syllabus, and materials are carefully chosen according to the learning stage of each student.

Time: Mondays 1645-1740, 1745-1840 with teacher Satomi
Fridays 1540-1635, 1645-1740, 1745-1840 with teacher Rosie
Lessons are 55 minutes each

Please select either 5 tickets, 10 tickets, 20 tickets (5% off) purchase, or a trial class. If possible, please limit ticket purchase to 1 quantity per slot.

Participation in Annual Music Academy Recital

All students have the opportunity to participate in an annual Music Academy Recital. This year, the recital is held on 10th October 2026, from 1000-1100. Read more about last year's recital here: Music Academy Instrument Recital 2025 Highlights.
